Volunteer with Samaritan’s Purse (SP) to help repair and rebuild homes that sustained damage as a result of Hurricane Helene in September of 2024. No specific skills are necessary. SP staff and general contractors will instruct and guide volunteers through the repair/rebuild tasks. The most important task volunteers can do is to be an ear and shoulder for the homeowner and show them the love of Christ!

When: July 13-18, 2025 (depart approximately 11:00 a.m. Sunday, return late Friday night*)
          *Participants may choose to return Saturday but will need to provide their own housing Friday        

​Where: Burnsville, NC (500 miles/7.5 hours from GBC)
Who: Ages 14 through Super Seniors*
*Youth ages 14-15 must be accompanied by their parent/legal guardian
*Youth ages 16-17 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone of the same gender so they may be in the same sleeping quarters
 
Cost:
​1. 
Lodging and Meals   
Option 1:  SP will provide meals and lodging in the host church at no cost.
  • There will be separate sleeping quarters for men and women. Twin size bunk beds will be provided; participants are asked to bring their own linens.
  • Showers are provided in the SP shower trailer.
Option 2:  Participants are welcome to provide their own lodging; meals will be provided by SP at the host church at no cost.
  • Hotels:
    • In Burnsville: The NuWray Hotel or Carolina Country Inn
    • In Mars Hill: Comfort Inn (20 miles from Burnsville)
  • Participants may want to consider renting a house(s) together (AirBNB or VRBO) and share the cost. A list of rentals which are within proximity to Burnsville can be provided.
 2. Transportation  
Participants will need to provide their own transportation to/from Burnsville. They will also need to transport themselves to/from the job site(s) although the expectation would be that our team carpools to reduce costs.

Once signups are completed all participants will receive instructions on how to proceed with registration on the SP website. A few weeks prior to the trip a meeting will be held with all participants to cover final details and answer any questions.
